September 11, 2008News About the Project
Participants at the National Ministry Summit represented every state and six countries beyond U.S. borders. Our friends from other countries have been watching the progress of the Emerging Models Project and learning from the findings. They came to Orlando with high expectations. Here is a sampling of what they have been saying.
- The Diocese of Wellington and Palmerston North in New Zealand sent participants who were especially interested in Canon 517.2 parishes.
- The Diocese of Christchurch, also in New Zealand, sent a participant who focused on lay ecclesial ministry.
- The Archdiocese of Toronto joined us in Orlando as well, and were particularly interested in the implications of emerging models for multicultural diversity.
Here is a sampling of the coverage of the Summit and the use of the Project findings here in the U.S.
- The Catholic Voice of the Diocese of Oakland wrote about the Summit and the way in which it focused on the need for collaboration and communication at the center of the merging models of parish.
- The Office for Catechesis and Youth Ministry in the Archdiocese of Chicago picked up on the first look at implications of the emerging models for the growing multicultural diversity in parishes.
- The Archdiocese of Boston is developing their pastoral planning efforts with the institution of an office for pastoral planning.
- The interim report on the study of the next generation of pastoral leaders was the subject of an article in NCR.
