The National Association for Lay Ministry is a professional organization which supports, educates and advocates for lay ministers and promotes the development of lay ministry in the Catholic Church.

The National Association for Lay Ministry is the representative organization for lay ministers in the United States. As a professional organization, NALM: 

  • fosters a clear ministerial identity; 
  • promotes quality and competence in ministry;
  • advocates for justice for all who serve the Church;
  • encourages collaboration between lay and ordained ministers;
  • supports and advances lay ministry's essential role in serving the Reign of God;
  • provides the Church with a strong, vital network of competent and responsible lay ministers.
